Can I permit into Mark Twain?
Yes, the only permits allowed are sibling, parent employment, or through a specialized program.
Do I need to enroll through LAUSD?
Students living outside of Mark Twain's residential boundaries can apply to Mark Twain World Languages Magnet, Dual Language Spanish Program, Mandarin Immersion, School for Advanced Studies (SAS), and the Individualized Honors Program (IHP) by visiting echoices.lausd.net.
What's the difference between the Dual Language Program and the World Languages Magnet?
The Dual Language Program is for students who are proficient in the language (3+ years) and World Language Magnet is for beginners to intermediate language learners.
How are the IHP and SAS Programs different?
The Individualized Honors Program, also known as IHP, is the oldest, continuous program for Highly Gifted Students in LAUSD, which was founded in 1970. SAS is a designation given to resident K-12 LAUSD schools for exemplary implementation of Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) services and support.

How do I obtain an LAUSD Student ID?
Every student has an LAUSD student ID generated once they enroll at any LAUSD school. Please call the main office if you do not have one.
What are the uniform requirements at Mark Twain?
Uniforms are required for P.E. class only. The uniform is a gray or white shirt, and navy blue athletic shorts/basketball shorts/sweatpants.
Where can I buy school uniforms?
Uniforms can be purchased at the Student Store. Payments must be in cash.
Where can I buy Mark Twain Spirit Wear?
Mark Twain spirit wear can be purchased at the Student Store.
How do kids enroll for electives?
There is an elective form given out to the Elementary schools.
How many electives can kids take each year?
Students can take one elective per year.
Can my child switch electives in the second semester?
Currently, this is not possible due to growing enrollment.
Where can we find back to school supply lists?
Each teacher has different lists/requirements. Details will be shared at the beginning of the school year.
How do I get a Chromebook for my child?
Please visit device.lausd.net to request a Chromebook.
Are parents allowed on campus?
Only screened volunteers are allowed on campus, unless you are picking up your student from the office.
What do I do when my child is absent?
To excuse an absence, please bring a note the next day to the Attendance Office.
My child has an appointment during the school day, what do I need to do?
Come into one of the three offices to sign a permit to release form (blue) and verify identity (bring ID).
Is there after school care available?
After care is available though Beyond the Bell and The Boys & Girls Club.

How can I volunteer at Mark Twain?
Volunteers must register at LAUSD's volunteer app. Requirements include a current TB Skin Test, proof of COVID Vaccination, and the volunteer must pass Megan's Law screening.
