Dance / P.E.

 The Dance/PE program at Mark Twain Middle School, exists under the umbrella of the Physical Education Department. It has a uniquely designed curriculum that focuses on Creative Expression in Dance, Physical Fitness and Stage Craft. Apart from achieving PE fitness standards, dance students will explore fundamental movement skills in a variety of dance forms including Jazz, Modern, Ballet, Caribbean, Hip-Hop, World Folk Dance and Ballroom. Other instructional units include Gymnastics, Track and Fitness and the Art of Making Dances.
 
All dance students will have the opportunity to perform and organize our annual school wide events held throughout the year. Events such as our traditional Thriller Dance and Dia de los Muertos Carnival, Global Holiday Concert, Cirque du Twain (gymnastics demos) and Danza Extravaganza (dance recital) are among the major events dance students will participate in.
 
Learning in Dance provides an opportunity to develop the following skills: Self-confidence, artistic expression, academic achievement, leadership, problem solving, critical thinking, community awareness, empathy for others, discipline, time management, a healthy lifestyle and most importantly . . .
